As a child growing up in a home where the bible was what we lived by, halloween wasn’t celebrated. I have no hard feeling about it either. Honestly, I don’t think I really cared. My mom would always take me out of school early when Halloween was celebrated, and I was just happy about that. Now that I have children, I want to raise them w/o celebrating Halloween as well; which is a bit of a challenge because they are both happy about it( idk why).
Although we don’t celebrate halloween, I don’t see anything wrong with allowing my kids to have a little harvest time fun, so I came up with a few activities so they won’t feel left out. As they get older, I will inform them why we don’t celebrate the holiday. I always want my children to be informed on why we may not do what they see others do. Any who you will find a list of activities below. I hope you find this helpful, and if you get a chance to do anything on the list please post to any social media platform with #SFharvestfun.
- Paint pumpkins
- Make cookies and decorate them
- Go to the cider mill or apple orchard for cider and doughnuts
